Power of One is a program in partnership with the City of Columbus and Neighborhood Design Center benefitting small business through low-cost, high-impact design solutions to improve curb appeal

EXTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS UP TO $10,000.

Are you a business owner along a commercial corridor? Winning a Power of One grant connects you with design professionals to foresee landscaping, outdoor furnishings, art, sculptures, paint, signage, lighting, and more.

ELIGABLE IMPROVEMENTS

Awnings

Protective facade improvement attached to the exterior wall of the building. Variety of colors and materials (e.g. vinyl, polyester, and cotton).

Umbrellas

Movable and collapsible shade for weather protection. Selected

size, shape, and color

to match the

business brand.

Landscaping

Large planters and planting materials. Placed to frame business, protect seating area, and/or enhance the streetscape.

Seating

Expand business capacity by adding outdoor moveable cafe seating. Selected style, color, and material to match business character.

Lighting

Festoon/cafe lights also known as string lights, or party lights. Strings of hanging lights/globes/bulbs hung from two different structures (e.g. posts, beams, poles).

Signage

Graphic assistance to promote, identify, provide information, give directions, and / or raise awareness and visibility of the business brand and identity.

Artwork

Placemaking through art installation. Engage local artist to provide an attractive, meaningful, and appropriate piece in a large format.
